For those in Connecticut where oil prices fluctuate and supplies get strained, where paying $4.00 or more per gallon for oil, and one delivery can break your financial budget, where pricing increases and product shortages are not that far behind us, and seem to always be looming right around the corner, where natural gas supplies and availability are abundant, where distribution is more widespread than ever and equipment is efficient, reliable and well designed, now is the time to be proactive in making the swap from oil to gas heating. Add to that, the options for cooking, clothes drying, grills, generators… The long term benefits make the conversion a worthwhile home improvement project to undertake.
Natural Gas Prices 40% cheaper in 2019-2020
The average spot price of natural gas has enjoyed a favorable decline for consumers in the year between 2019-2020 with prices declining about 40% in the New England area. This is the lowest price since the winter of 2015-2016 and almost half the average over the past 5 years. As capacity is increased in the region it’s likely that this downward trajectory will continue making gas even more attractive over oil.
The improvement of infrastructure and distribution in the Northeast has continued with the bulk of Connecticut now having access to natural gas.
While natural gas consumption in Connecticut has increased by 3.5 percent per year since the 1990s the availability, steady delivery and stable pricing has continued to fuel the conversion trends from oil to much higher, cleaner and quieter natural gas equipment installations.
Incentives Available
Rebates for the installation of high-efficiency natural gas products are still available and often times the manufacturers offer additional incentives.
